Veea has partnered with Mainstream Fiber Networks, Microclimates and AmeriCrew LLC to deploy Climate Smart Agriculture solutions at Cyr Farm in Fowler, Indiana. The installation of the Veea’s Edge Platform’s connectivity technology is aimed at improving resource management, sustainability and productivity in farming operations.
“We’re excited to collaborate with industry leading partners on this project,” said Norb Cyr at Cyr Farm. “The expected improvements in energy efficiency, water conservation and yield maximisation will allow us to push the boundaries of sustainable farming. We’re looking forward to seeing how these technologies will transform our operations.”
Veea’s high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity and long-range wide-area network (LoRaWAN) will enable Cyr Farm to remotely monitor and control all aspects of farm management across the outdoor compound, including hyperlocal weather information, soil composition, grain elevators and bins humidity and storage levels. Using precision agriculture practices that use real-time data from soil sensors, irrigation systems and weather monitoring tools, can yield benefits compared to conventional farming and irrigation practices, including:
- 20%-plus improvement in crop yields
- up to 30% reduction in energy consumption
- up to 40% reduction in water usage, with mitigated flooding risk
- 20-40% cost savings in labor-related expenses
Mainstream Fiber will provide the high-speed, reliable fibre broadband network necessary to implement and access Veea’s infrastructure. Their connectivity solution ensures that Cyr Farm will have the capacity to run real-time monitoring and control systems, regardless of weather conditions or other external factors.
“Pairing other technology companies, like Veea and Microclimates, with Mainstream Fiber’s best-in-class broadband infrastructure will help agricultural businesses in Indiana promote the state’s rural economic growth,” said Bryan Gabriel, the CEO of Mainstream Fiber Networks. “These partnerships will continue to make strides for residents and businesses, connecting a vast array of products and services that help build a better future for Hoosiers.”
Microclimates’ dashboard solution is designed to provide a universal control system that can automate the different climate control, lighting and irrigation systems, thus reducing costs, maximising efficiency and increasing crop value — all of which are essential for staying competitive. The Veea Edge platform supports Microclimates environmental automation solution. Using the enterprise-level computing and connectivity capabilities of VeeaHubs, this combination provides a comprehensive and reliable solution for indoor farming automation.
“We’re proud to support the growth of smart agriculture in Indiana by deploying advanced connectivity solutions,” said Neda Vaseghi, the CEO and co-founder of Microclimates. “Our commitment is to empower farmers with the tools they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving agricultural landscape.”
Veea has designed its precision agriculture solution with the farmer in mind, ensuring that each component is advanced, accessible and user-friendly. From intuitive control dashboards to integration with various farming sensors and devices, every aspect of the Veea solution is crafted to enhance the farming experience.
“We are committed to improving lives in rural communities by enhancing farming techniques through new, smart technology solutions,” said Allen Salmasi, Veea’s CEO and founder. “This project demonstrates how our edge computing products can drive greater efficiency and sustainability in agricultural yields, while also mitigating risks. It is an exciting step toward the future of farming.”
AmeriCrew, the installation partner for this deployment, specialises in building and upgrading the nation’s critical infrastructure —fibre, wireless and clean energy, specifically. As a leading employer of veterans, it seeks to build out US infrastructure, while building up those who have served it.
